You'll also need an understanding of the elements that make up different kinds of matter. I've told many that it's a science, not magic. And there's no guarantee that someone's soul from outside of my world will possess the power needed to activate a transmutation circle. That's something we'll have to discover together.

I see. That'll give you a decent head start. It's only by understanding the proper composition of an item that you can break it down successfully. Then it's up to you to rearrange those components into what you desire. A spoon can become a razor sharp knife, but it can't become an apple. You also couldn't create a ten foot spoon with so few components to work with.

[Her fingers linger on the spine of a book, then retract, and pull another from the shelf.]

Decent penmanship is also a requirement for inscribing proper transmutation circles. How's your handwriting?
